About Us

Community® Coffee has a history of going beyond.

For more than 90 years, we’ve remained steadfast in our commitment to crafting the world’s best tasting coffee. And by believing that everything we do should be as good as everything we sell, we’ve also remained committed to building the world’s best coffee company. That’s because we understand that beyond is the only place ordinary can’t follow. That beyond having standards, there’s setting them.

Beyond passion, there’s obsession. Beyond good, there’s great. Which is why beyond good coffee, there’s Community Coffee.

Community Coffee Company invites you to enjoy the unique taste of Louisiana’s most distinctive coffee. We start with only quality, 100% Arabica beans selected by the Saurage family. Then, through generations of roasting experience, we have perfected a full-bodied yet smooth flavor that reflects the extraordinary culinary traditions of Louisiana. Today, Community® coffee is served in the best New Orleans restaurants and is shared in homes across the South. To understand why, simply sit back and enjoy a cup.

Tradition

Community Coffee Company is steeped in tradition as rich as our coffee. As the largest family-owned retail coffee brand in the U.S., our Company grew from a small country store in Baton Rouge where more than 90 years ago, founder Henry Norman “Cap” Saurage brewed his popular coffee.

The coffee became so popular that he named it “Community” in honor of his loyal friends and customers. Cap eventually turned his attention away from the grocery store and devoted all of his time and energy to making great coffee.

Today, Community Coffee Company is so much a part of people’s lives and spans so many generations that it has been dubbed the State Coffee of Louisiana™. We invite you to enjoy this family tradition and experience a little bit of Louisiana in every cup.

History

For four generations, the Saurage family of Louisiana has owned and operated Community Coffee Company. In 1919, Henry Norman “Cap” Saurage discovered the secret of making this great-tasting coffee in his country store in on the north edge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He named his coffee “Community” in honor of his community of friends.

Promise

At Community Coffee Company, we consistently strive to make and deliver only the absolute best in quality. Everything we do has to be as good as our coffee. That is why we unconditionally guarantee your satisfaction with our products. For over 90 years, our mission has been to share our passion for great coffee with you. We accomplish this by remaining committed to our promise of superior quality, paying attention to the details and always doing what is right. It’s all part of our goal to be the best coffee company in America.

Too bad CC just discontinued my favorite pod blend and cut the quantity from 18 to 16 in a box. I guess that money rules.

No comments lately? Well here’s one. Please try and talk your brother out of closing Highland Coffees. He is making a real mess of your family name and reputation. We know he does not work for the company, but he is your great great grandfather’s namesake and if this closing of a Baton Rouge institution goes through because of his unwillingness to negotiate a reasonable lease, I’m done using any Community Coffee products. You are not the only game in town.
